For the five primary schools in Oelegem, Broechem and Emblem, a swimming facility was not just round the corner. The journey to the nearest swimming pool took up valuable lesson time, and the cost of the coach fare was mounting up.
The municipality of Ranst was therefore looking for a solution that would bring swimming facilities close to the schools, without the waiting times and investment costs associated with a traditional swimming pool.
Quickly installed, a complete, hassle-free solution, and tailored to the needs of five schools.
Swimwise is installing a portable Swimclad 15m in Ranst: a fully equipped, covered swimming pool that changes location every year between Oelegem and Broechem.
This means that both boroughs take turns to have access to local swimming facilities, without the need for a permanent swimming pool at every location.
The pool uses naturally filtered swimming water, free from chlorine, and can be used all year round thanks to the heating system.
Five schools share the use of the Swimclad during school hours. Outside school hours and during July and August, Swimwise Club organises swimming lessons, group swimming sessions and swimming camps for the whole community.
Including the entire tendering process for a local authority, from the initial analysis to the completion of a swimming pool on site.

Thanks to the short distance, the five schools have more time for swimming lessons rather than travelling.
From now on, residents of Oelegem and Broechem can also go swimming closer to home, either on foot or by bike.
The local authority offers swimming facilities as part of a fixed, all-inclusive tariff scheme and is largely relieved of the burden thanks to the comprehensive support provided by Swimwise Club.
The Swimclad brings local swimming facilities to five schools and thousands of children in Ranst, without the council having to invest in a permanent swimming pool.
Outside school hours, the pool remains open to senior citizens, people with disabilities and other groups within the local community. This makes the Swimclad a real meeting place for the whole neighbourhood.
